The First Day for the First Year

This is the first day of the year 2015 and my first entry for my musings - absorbed in thought. Jess says this is not a word used or understood but I like it.  Jess is my dear husband for 34 years and we have shared some moments that are interesting and infuriating.  These have accumulated to the years of our shared lives because we have Christ and the Church in common.

The purpose of this blog is to take what I have learned and taught to a permanent place because now that I have crossed over to the 60 year and older crowd there are a lot of things to share.

When I think of the  past day the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 it has come down to choices that I have made.

Choices for living:

Christ first.
Family and work.
Work that mattered.
Who is Mary today and how did she get here?
What I did to feed myself and made it fun.
What I did to my environment to change it for the better.
Will I continue to share my household thoughts.

Every blog that I found interesting has some things in common. You got to meet a person. There is the hidden part that peeks out between the lines and laugh at the experiences of life. You get to encourage a loved one and find discipline in the small things. You get to own the stories that unfold from a tapestry of interwoven lives.

Not all blogs have food but we all  have to eat. This is when you come to terms with what are our real choices.  Our choices come at the end of our fingertips.  What is in our members or body parts have a memory really of what our food choices are and what portions you would take in.

Our members be it fingers and legs that take us to the kitchen have a memory of what is coming down the pipe.  There is science in all this because our physiology has been described in a very detailed way by the ancient writings like the bible and modern writings like my overstuffed email box.

I think I will start short because I get bored easily and a long page of stuff tends to moving on to other things...quickly. If  I do anything, it will be to choose wisely, move my body more and keep in touch with how it feels.

We enjoy leftovers because it started as ingredients of high quality thoughtfully prepared and then redefined as a new dish at our next meal.  We try to eat everything we buy so we have an overstuffed freezer with bits of chopped vegetables, jars of vinegared garlic and bone broths.  These are the main beginnings of new things to start meals for the next time.  I like to start a meal and be sitting at the table within one hour because I come home from work and am ready to leave that part of my day real fast. In this way I create my own fast food and have no need for restaurants that are disappointing at most and scientifically engineered to get me down a black hole of salt, sugar, fat and cheap.

Enjoy a tiny taste of good eating by having this salad meal.

Salad Greens: kale, baby spinach, 1 cucumber cut to cubes or rounds
Protein: choose one or more of the following
wild caught canned salmon
tuna canned in pure olive oil
